The job of Grade Level Leader requires a person with good communication, group facilitation, and organizational skills. The position requires the individual to utilize these skills, as well as their teaching experience, so that they can effectively assist their grade level in understanding and implementing the district curriculum, the NYS Standards, assessments, and instructional practices. Grade Level Leaders will work collaboratively with the Office of Instruction, building administrators, and Grade Level Leaders across elementary buildings to engage in shared decision-making and ensure consistency in curriculum implementation and instructional practices. Job Responsibilities: - Plan, lead, and facilitate grade-level meetings with support from the Office of Instruction.
- Serve as Liaison between grade level and building leadership/Office of Instruction.
- Participate in shared decision-making among buildings and with administration.
- Collaborate with the IB coordinators (where applicable) on grade level curriculum, assessment, and program implementation.
- Provide leadership in the development, dissemination, and understanding of curriculum documents and assessments
- Support colleagues on instructional programs, initiatives, special projects (i.e. instructional technology, curriculum updates, shifts in standards)
- Identify and support curriculum writing needs and implementation.
- Update, maintain, and communicate grade level curricular resources (i.e. Scope and Sequence, Assessment creation, Report Card Guidance Documents, Assessment Calendars, etc.).
- Participate in Leadership Council Meetings.
- Participate in Building-wide monthly Grade Level Leader meetings.
- Participate in 5 Release Days during the school year, led by the Office of Instruction for the purposes of Professional Development, Curriculum and Assessment updates, and Program Implementation.
- Complete 15 summer hours to include one summer day per the Office of Instruction.
- Provides leadership in the development, dissemination, and understanding of curriculum documents and assessments.
