Job Description

Anticipated Internal Posting Only- Open to current 7-12 Hilton Central School District teachers working in the Alternative Education Program

The Alternative Education Coordinator is a teacher within the Hilton High School Alternative Education Program who assumes additional leadership responsibilities to support the program’s vision, operations, and success. Guided by the program philosophy of providing a full-day, structured, supportive “school within a school,” the Coordinator serves as the primary teacher leader who fosters collaboration, coherence, communication, and student-centered supports across the program.

The role received a $7,152 stipend for leadership responsibilities performed over the course of the school year.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications

  • NYS Certified Educator (any appropriate 7–12 certification), currently working in the Alternative Education Program.
  • Experience working in alternative education, high-support environments, or student-centered instructional models preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive, productive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to the program’s philosophy of rigorous, flexible, student-responsive instruction supported by SEL and restorative practices.

Time Expectations:

  • Responsibilities may include time beyond the contractual school day for planning, coordination, events, and meetings.
  • Stipend reflects responsibilities carried out throughout the school year.
  • Complete up to 15 summer hours, compensated at the curriculum rate, as mutually agreed upon with high school administration.
