The job of program coordinator requires a person with good communication, group facilitation, and organizational skills. Program coordinators need to be proactive and flexible in a variety of situations. The position requires the individual to utilize these skills, as well as his/her teaching experience, so that he/she can effectively assist his/her department in understanding and implementing the district curriculum, the NYS Standards for Health, the NYS Standards for K-12 PE and Health, IB assessments, and district K-12 PE and Health Assessments. In addition, the person should be able to assist his/her department in moving the district’s initiative forward. The program coordinator must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing involvement in staff development and other professional development opportunities, as well as support school and district improvement efforts.
Requirements:
The K-12 PE and Health Program Coordinator should hold a K-12 PE certification and/or Health certification, be tenured as a teacher, and have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in K-12 PE and/or Health. A variety of professional teaching experience is preferred.
