Job Description

The Hilton Central School District is currently seeking applications for a Programmer Analyst position.

Typical Work Activities:

  • Design, develop, document, maintain, analyze, create, test, and customize computer and data processing systems, applications, programs, databases, and integrations;
  • Program computers by encoding project requirements in computer language;
  • Apply system-analyst techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or systems functional specifications;
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend solutions and appropriate technology;
  • Arrange project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements; prepare work flow chart and diagram using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming language, and logic.

Job Qualifications

Applicant should have experience in database design/administration, and be proficient in writing fine-tuned SQL queries, stored procedures (e.g., PL/SQL code) and working with data in relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Service, MySQL, etc.

Applicant must be currently working in this title or be on the current Civil Service eligible list, or to be eligible for a provisional appointment must meet the minimum qualifications listed on the Monroe County Civil Service job specification to be considered.

(Programmer Analyst Civil Service Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, plus EITHER: (A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in a computer science field, plus three (3) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience (co-op is acceptable) as a computer programmer, systems analyst, or computer operator in a fourth generation mainframe computer, two (2) years of which shall have been in programming; OR (B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in a computer science field, plus two (2) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as defined in (A), one (1) year of which shall have been in programming; OR (C) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree, plus three (3) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience (co-op is acceptable) as a computer programmer, systems analyst, or computer operator, two (2) years of which shall have been in programming for a fourth generation mainframe computer; OR, (C) Any equivalent combination of training an experience as defined by the limits (A), (B), and (C).)
