The job of program coordinator requires a person with good communication, group facilitation, and organizational skills. Program coordinators need to be proactive and flexible in a variety of situations. The position requires the individual to utilize these skills, as well as their teaching experience, so that they can effectively assist their departments in understanding and implementing the district curriculum, the NYS Standards for FACS, Business, and Technology, IB assessments, AP assessments, and district FACS, Business, and Technology assessments. In addition, the person should be able to assist their department in moving the district’s initiatives forward. The program coordinator must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing involvement in staff development and other professional development opportunities, as well as support school and district improvement efforts. The CTE Program Coordinator should hold a FACS, Business, or Technology certificate, be tenured a teacher, and have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in K-12 FACS, Business, or Technology. A variety of professional teaching experience is preferred.
